KID CUDI - PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS (VIDEO)

Dope video. Still can't quite believe this is the guy who performed to like 20 people at Roxanne's 18 months ago.

KID CUDI - SKY MIGHT FALL

The Kanye West produced "Sky Might Fall" is taken from the transformers sequel Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen.

Sounds like an 808's cut off.

VIDEO TAKE TWO: KID CUDI - DAY N NITE (DIRECTED BY SO-ME)

kid cudi - day 'n' nite
by 75_prod

Another classic from So-Me, and infinitely better than the Crookers remix video, this phenomenon of a record now has an equally compelling visual accompanying it. Well worth an assisted viewing.

It's been a minute since a single debut song took an artist as far as Day N Nite has taken Cudi. Going from indie nobody to instant industry buzz-kid within the space of 12 months from one song is an amazing feat when put in the context of his peers and the era of disposable singles. It could even be argued that DNN has been a direct influence, not only on Kanye's emotions and 808's obviously, but this whole 'emo-rap' infestation in general.

Whatever happens, Day N Nite will at worst go down as one of the most 2008 sounding songs of 2008, and at best, one of the most influential pop records of the decade, and this video does everything to further that legacy.

BONUS: Kanye just leaked out that new Cudi/Wale joint.

CUDI AND RYAN LESLIE IN THE STUDIO

Ryan Leslie x Kid Cudi @ studio from Vernonmac on Vimeo

It feels like only yesterday we were having dinner with Cudi and Dot at a dodgy chinese joint in Melbourne and now they're on the verge of having a worldwide smash. Can't say I didn't see it coming though.

RADIO STILL LOVES EMINEM

After hearing Em's recently leaked return single "Crack A Bottle", I think the question on most peoples minds was; "Is this song the right single choice to re-ignite his career?"

Well, according to its reception at Rhythmic Radio, I'd say its safe to assume the answer to that question is yes.

The DJ Khalil Dr. Dre produced "Crack A Bottle" jumped from a #505 position to #39 this week on the aforementioned chart, with the greatest gain in spins (+846) aside from Kanye's number one bound "Heartless"(+923).

I'm still unsure if its a Top 5 radio single, but then again I didn't expect "A Milli" to perform so well at radio either.

On a slightly related note, it gives me great pleasure to FINALLY see Kid Cudi/Crookers "Day N Nite" make its long overdue and well deserved debut into a Top 40 radio chart stateside. It is currently at #36 on the Rhythmic Chart. Watch this song do big things over the next three months. With abit of hope it may even change the culture of the 'rap remix' back to something exciting. Fingers crossed.

KiD CUDi / PLAIN PAT / X & HELL - DEC 4TH - ROXANNES, MELB

When Brooklyn via Cleveland guy Kid Cudi last graced Australia in June of this year, I wrote that it was dope (and rare) to have an artist who at least seems to be on the verge of making some exciting moves, come out to this country at this stage in their career. Cudi had a deal with A-Trak's Fools Gold and a cult-hit on his hands in Day N Nite (with some additional help from the Crookers) , and seemed to be in a good place as far as the new school of rap artists go. It was great to meet him and producer/DJ O Dot, and see him perform, but fucking horrible to see the poor turnout and promo.

Little did I, or anyone, know that his return would be so quick, and the reason for that return would be Kanye West. Now signed to G.O.O.D Music, appearing on one of 808's & Heartbreak's best cuts and a confirmed contributor to the creation process for said album, Cudi will not only headline this gig with Plain Pat and get support from our X & Hell, but also join Kanye on stage at Glow In The Dark. How bout that shit?

Come and see what I am talking about next Thursday 4th December @ Roxanne's with our friends MAFIA and A-Style keeping things moving earrrrrly.

BTW, I am posting this again, its too funny.
