I could definitely go without the video, but I'm digging this joint. Its the perfect summer jam. I feel like I should be on an tropical island listening to this shit on a beach throwing a frisby. Plus Rock City are them dudes.
The Rock City dudes put out their Put The Fuckin' Album Out mixtape as a small teaser for their forthcoming debut album on Konlive/Interscope.
If you think you don't know Rock City by name, you'd definitely know their music - they penned: PCD - When I Grow Up, Jennifer Hudson - If This Isn't Love, Mario - Skippin, Music For Love, Jesse McCartney - Relapse, Freaky, Make Up, Nicole S - Supervillian, T.I. - My Life, My Entertainment, Sean Kingston - Take You There and the list goes on.
I must admit I've pretty much ignored everything from Jennifer Hudson after I copped her album and only enjoyed 3 or 4 songs on the entire project. Especially after she won an imo, unjustified Grammy for it.
With that said, I am normally aware of most things Madd Scientist and Rock City do musically, so my ignorance seems to have deafened me on this occasion. "If This Isn't Love" is the 2nd? official single from Hudsons debut album Jennifer Hudson. It is produced by Brian Kennedy (Forever, Disturbia) & Madd Scientist and written by Theron Thomas of Rock City.
I especially enjoy the way Rock City slipped in the Real Life "Send Me An Angel" line into the prechorus, or maybe it was just coincidence? either way this song is working for me.
If you're unfamiliar with Rock City's credits, get familiar
They quickly touch on their start as songwriters, but its more focused on Rock City as artists, interesting regardless. In all honesty, I don't think the record label are the only people who prefer them as R&B artists.
