VIDEO: PATRICK MILLS - AUSSIES ABROAD (DOCO)

Probably been around for a minute but loved watching this 30min special and getting a look into the experience Patty is getting in Portland and the NBA in general. Seems like a great guy too. Worth a look.

Link here if the above doesn't work.

VIDEO: TROOP 41 - DO THE JOHN WALL

Hahaha. Very smart move by these kids to get their name out.

If you're wondering what that dance actually has to do with John Wall, this video will explain for you.

So stupid.

ANDREW BOGUT FOR FIBA

With the kid from Endeavour Hills having a breakout year, his Bucks surprising everyone by suddenly becoming a serious Round 1 playoff threat (Salmons!) and The Sports Guy even gushing over him and his Squad 6 fan club, things are looking mighty fucking great for Andrew Bogut right now. Plus dude loves some X & Hell apparently.

So its kinda cool that he was chosen to rep Australia in these series of FIBA World Championships ads, alongside Kobe and a bunch of other NBA foreigners. Lets hope he and Patty Mills can combine for some sort of showing in Turkey in August.

Not to mention that a video of him giving himself some dap after making a free throw has 600,000+ views!

...and he does shit like this....

...and this...

...and anyone that puts Baby Davis on his ass like that, Aussie or not, is okay with us.

THIS IS WHAT NBA SHOULD HAVE AIRED...

The Sprite Slam Dunk Competition was possibly the worst its ever been this past weekend. Everyone agrees with that right?

Like HoopedUp said, Nate Robinson didn't deserve a trophy with dunks like Air Up There's being thrown down in the amateur Showdown.

The 360-through-the-legs is just.............

THE ORIGINAL BANG GANG

So I spotted this over at Deadspin and was instantly enamored with it for reasons I don't think I need to explain.

Then I went to the actual eBay page and noticed the shit is up to $102! Not only that, but the product description is so on point my face almost melted... here's some excerpts...

"Ladies and Gentlemen, you are bidding on perhaps the greatest Chicago Bulls shirt ever created. Perhaps the greatest vintage basketball shirt of all-time. One could even call it the greatest shirt of all time."

"This shirt commemorates the legendary reign of the BANG GANG. Wennington in his bearded glory. Longley with his massively broad shoulders. And let's not forget Perdue, the man with the soft shooting touch, an even softer heart, but with a plastic face mask that was hard as steel when an opponent's elbow had the misfortune of making contact."

"Note: Ed Nealy not included!"

If someone buys this, please send us a photo. That includes you Ajax.

Not anything new really but this alley attempt (yes I'm posting an alley attempt), linked from the recent Simmons article on Bron, is some shit to watch. Happy friday.

"LONGER THAN PIPPEN'S ARMS"

Imagine how painstakingly cool it would have been to compile something like the Top 50 Dunks of All Time (or any of Complex's EPIC Top Everything of the 00's lists). Seriously, go them.

Whilst the Top 10 is pretty predictable - Vinsanity's Olympic High Jump Medal, Tom Chambers teabagging Mark Jackson, Shawn Kemp being Shawn Kemp - it was this piece of magic from Pip (landing at #4) that I felt warranted a re-post.

I've always wanted to know what Scottie said to Chewing when he was standing over him to get that flagrant. It certainly wasn't pleasant. While I am at it, is it just me or did it seem like "flagrants" were handed out a lot more back then? Or have I watched too many highlights of 90's Bulls/Knicks playoffs?

BRANDON JENNINGS DROPS 55 ON GSW

When was the last time you saw a rookie do this? Seriously, the dude had 29 points in the 3rd quarter alone.

Wilt Chamberlain holds the record for most points scored by a rookie with 58, Philadelphia vs. Detroit, at Bethlehem, Pa., January 25, 1960.

MELO, LAD.

Now I'm really excited for the Den vs Port game kicking off in an hour. I like the Nugs, they're my substitute team when things go bad for Phx.

ALLEY-OOP!!!

Despite the lack of showmanship on VC's #1 alley-oop, I love the nonchalant look on his face after it. So good.

J. Rich may be an enormous douche, but his alley game is bonkers son, bonkers.

LEBRONS DEFINING MOMENT

I try to stay away from discussing sport on the blog because its all I talk about on my Twitter but you knew this was coming.

Bron committed a number of turn overs and offensive fouls in the 4th to let Orlando draw in front by 2 points with 1 second left on the clock and he hits the fade away tre to take the game.

This is will forever be THE classic moment that silenced any doubt of Lebron James as the face of basketball in the 2000's era, even more so if the Cavs advance to the Finals and take it all.

Sidenote: I have never been a big Lebron fan or Cavs fan for that matter but I gotta show respect where its due.

HE HAD TO DO IT: WEEZY ON THE PLAYOFFS

Most of the time I take artists opinions on topics other than music with a grain of salt (particularly sport and politics) unless I know them personally or they have proven experience in the respective field, but I think Wayne is pretty on-point when it comes his commentary on sport.

Check out what he had to say about the NBA Playoffs on his ESPN Blog:

"Just so no one gets it twisted: the Lakers are winning the NBA Finals."

Weez will love this one:

"Brandon Roy is just as good as Deron Williams or Chris Paul at the point"

Read the rest here

I'd personally put my money on Cavs this year but do agree that it will be a Lakers vs Cavs final.

And on a related note, here is yesterdays TOP 5 Plays:

HE GLOBAL.

You may have noticed a lack of Memphis around here lately. The site has been missing its dose of fly-shit, kicks and Beyonce doing Etta James.

Well the guy has better things to do and by better things I mean travelling to all manner of great spots across the world for months, just doing Memphis. He Global.

So excuse me while I post these couple of snaps he recently took in an L.A resell with a whole bunch of deadstock Starter and NBA gear. Holy fucking shit.

Question: Who doesn't want a Dan Marino snap back Starter? (BTW I'm Twitting that)

CHANNEL TENS DAVID WHITE IS GANGSTER

No, its not coming in December but this was the best picture I could find, douche.

From The Age:

A 24-HOUR sports channel to be launched next year on free-to-air television will revolutionise the Australian broadcasting landscape.

The Ten Network is set to next month lay down the gauntlet to Fox Sports and its free-to-air rivals when it unveils that its high-definition channel will televise Australian and international sport 24 hours a day.

Not only has Ten just outbid Nine to win the television rights to Australian swimming, but among the network's new trump cards are the US NBA basketball, the US Major League baseball. Ten also holds the rights to the US Open golf and tennis championships and the US Masters golf.
I thought this day would never come. I thought my NBA viewing on free to air television would never be relived, but thanks to David White, 2009 will bring me some happiness.

I am also hearing this 24-hour sports channel will feature minimal advertising and all sports will be telecast LIVE.

I applaud you Mr. White & Channel Ten. Bravo.

Check out this link for more in depth details.

CP3 FOR MVP

Now that the NBA Regular Season is finished, (Phx played their bench today and beat Portland, The NZ guy had 16, haha!) the discussion and debate starts on the 2007-2008 MVP, Kobe
or CP3?!?

OK, so Kobe has never won an MVP and he's pretty much the best player in the league in what has been one of the most exciting seasons of NBA basketball in history, plus he has completely turned around since the 'trade' fuckery late last year and pulled his team together for the best record in the Western (57-25). Awesome. But:

CP is 22, third year in, stat-wise he's the best all-round point guard in the league, and he's managed to lead his team to the second best record in the West (56-26), not to mention N.O. was completely displaced last season with their split home schedule and didn't even make the playoffs.

If Steve Nash is awarded MVP for making his team better and being an all round good canadian, then I'd expect that same logic to be applied this year to Chris Paul, minus the canada thing. He's playing the same role and achieving the same results as Nash did, but with more swag, imo. Technically theres not much seperating CP & Kobe in this battle, but I feel like it would be an injustice if CP missed out after what he's done this past season. Kobe bitched and moaned at the beginning of the season, talked shit about Bynum (who became one of the most exciting players in the league before being injured), and was thrown a bone with Paul Gasol going to LA.

If people are screaming 'novelty' by giving the MVP to CP, then I'm screaming the same back with the suggestion of giving it to Kobe just because he's never been MVP.

My vote goes to CP3

PHOENIX vs SAN ANTONIO .. first round, I really hope SA get annihilated and sent home. Thats all.

These Jordan 5 PE Chris Paul joints are insanely rad. Pity they will never see the light of day in stores.
