VIDEO: JESSICA MAUBOY FT LUDACRIS - SATURDAY NIGHT

Embed for the video, sucks so click here to watch full screen...

I'm a little confused by this Get Em Girls project. Sony Music appear to have spent a considerable amount of money and resources on the song writing and production of the album but are throwing out chump change on the videos.

The worst thing is none of these failed creative choices will fall on the overzealous A&R's, they'll fall on Jessica, cause she's the artist in the spotlight... and then Sony Music Australia will use the old excuse labels have been using for years - "R&B doesn't work in Australia".

VIDEO: LUDACRIS - HOW LOW

As far as I have noticed, Luda's current single "How Low" has yet to make an impact internationally, despite being one of the biggest rap songs at US radio.

Please link me to any Baltimore remixes of this. There's gotta be a few right?

THE DREAM WEEK: VIDEO: 'ROCKIN THAT THING' REMIX

Is it just me or do these dudes, including Dream, just look bored as hell in this video?

Luda's flow is great but apart from that, I'm kinda gonna forget this ever existed.

JESSE MCCARTNEY AND LUDA GHOST RIDE THE WHIP

I actually prefer the original version of "How Do You Sleep" but this video for the remix with Luda is simultaneously hilarious, awkward and awesome. Ken Hell would appreciate the part around 2:50.

RE-ENVISIONING TEDDY

ORIGINAL

RE-ENVISIONED

I noticed this as I was re-bumping the pretty great new T-Pain album again. Loving albums more on second listen makes me concerned for all the shit I have probably thrown aside after a dodgy first bump. Shit for me.

Anyway, Joe Buck, the guy that did this almost 20 years ago, has gone and re-envisioned the cover art of a bunch of recent rap releases and they are quite cool. This Luda one below caught my eye.

Spotted via the superb Diff Kitchen.

MAYBE PEOPLE JUST DON'T CARE?

It seems that every blog or news page today is trying to pin-point what to attribute Kanye and Axl Rose's poor sales to. I don't know about you but I'm with Idolator, maybe people just don't care for either album? I mean The Killers (109K) and Ludacris (213K) both sold close to expected numbers and Britney's new long-player Circus is on track to superscede early predictions of around 300k by alot this week. Not to mention, The Killers beat out Chinese Democracy for the #1 spot in the UK and Kanye failed to even make the Top10. This leaves me to believe the 'economy' excuse is entirely void. Blogs cared, consumers didn't.

With all that said, I sincerely thought Chinese Democracy was in a for a far bigger week than 255k. the album was expected to debut anywhere between 500k and 785k. Then again, what were they thinking with a BestBuy exclusive?

I PREDICT

* Proper audio *

After browsing over the Rhythmic Top 40 today, I thought it might be an appropriate time to make some predictions for which new hip-hop songs will become big hits going into the holiday season. Here they are:

Ludacris Ft T-Pain - One More Drink

Possibly the most fitting and entertaining Ludacris single since "Number One Spot", "One More Drink" is rocketing up the Rhythmic charts moving 23-14 this week, up 792 spins. I can see this one sticking around for a while once it enters the top 10. TrackMasters are back!!!

Kanye West - Heartless

"Heartless" debuted @ #4 on the Billboard Hot100 this week, while its up 34-25 at Rhythmic with 644 added spins over the week. Guaranteed to become a hit leading into Christmas. I predict a top 10 position next week.

Plies Ft Chris J - Put It On Ya

"Bust It Baby Pt 2" part three. I love this song, I have no doubt it will dominate Rhythmic radio over the next two-three months. Up from 42-30 with a gain of 482 spins. Plies looks like he can actually have two successful album campaigns in one year. The new DMX. Yes we can.

Honorable mention goes out to the inexcusable "Pop Champagne" which somehow, is doing quite well at radio. SMH.

NOVEMBER 24: DEF JAM'S BIG DAY

Billboard reported today that Def Jam have decided to move their three big November 25th releases (Kanye West's 808's & Heartbreak, The Killers Day & Age & Ludacris' Theater of the Mind) to the off-cycle Monday 24th, to capitalize on the Thanksgiving shopping weekend. This puts all three releases up against Guns N' Rose's first album in 15 years, Chinese Democracy, which will be made available as a Best Buy exclusive on Sunday, 23rd.

So the big question is, which album will take the coveted #1 Billboard position?

Here's the official Fuego First Week Prediction:

#1. Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy (900-1 mil+)

Based on the almost year long buzz combined with good early reviews, a top #10 mainstream rock track and the fact CD will be their first album of original studio material since the simultaneous release of Use Your Illusion I & Use Your Illusion II in September 1991.

10 million dollars later, and the Shaquille O'Neal joint probably won't be on the album. They need to do AC/DC numbers just to recoup.

#2. Kanye West - 808's & Heartbreak (600-650)

I'm still unsure about numbers 2 & 3. I feel like 'Ye will ease out The Killers but only narrowly. Majority of the blog reviews from the album listening event painted a relatively uncommitted opinion of the music. There has been a lukewarm reception to the leaks "Robocop", "Coldest Winter" and "Anyway" and up until Ye premiered the Heartless video, it seemed like people had lost the initial excitement for the project.

#3. The Killers - Day & Age (450-500)

The Killers 2006 release, Sam's Town sold 315k in its first week and has sold over 4 million worldwide. If thats anything to go by, they should be able to reach higher this time around, especially since some reviewers are crowning the Stuart Price produced Day & Age as their best album to date and one of the best albums of 2008.

#4. Ludacris - Theater of the Mind (230-270)

Despite the Trackmasters produced, T-Pain assisted "One More Drink" quickly becoming a hit at Rhythmic radio, I don't see TOTM selling as well as any of his previous albums. His last album Release Therapy sold 309k first week off the back of a #1 Billboard single with "Money Maker". I feel like this is his last chance to put together a great album.

Interesting fact: when Kanye's Graduation went up against 50 Cent's Curtis last year, it was only the second time in history that two albums had sold in excess of 600k each in the first week of release. The first time was Guns N' Roses Use Your Illusion I & Use Your Illusion II in 1991.

T-PAIN x LUDACRIS - CHOPPED & SCREWED

New Teddy Penderazdoun & Luda! Dope, I like the George Clinton esque harmonies during the verses.

Actually, I think a P-Funk / Minneapolis sound inspired album would be a perfect angle for T-Pain to re-invent himself & stay current while keeping the auto-tune / vocoder sound, but unfortunately that wont happen.

JENNIFER HUDSON FT LUDACRIS - POCKETBOOK

So good to hear Luda over classic beatbox/percussive Timbo production again.

Jennifer Hudson Ft Ludacris - Pocketbook

Produced by Timbaland, Hannon Lane & Jim Beanz ... Penned by The Clutch.

Because we're on the subject, heres my favourite Luda / Timbo moment: Gossip Folks
